French
I am a fully qualified, experienced and inspirational secondary school GCSE French teacher and iGCSE French tutor.
I tutor all exam boards for GCSE and iGCSE French.
Why French?
“Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things.” - Flora Lewis
In a world where technology can translate almost anything instantly, it is easy to question whether learning another language still has its benefits. However, I would argue that it is more important than ever.
Learning French encourages the brain to develop in ways our native languages do not. For example, switching between languages while learning and using them is like a mental workout, strengthening skills in multi-tasking and problem-solving. It is challenging, but that challenge is the heart of what makes language learning so valuable!
Spoken across five continents, learning French also opens the door to a world of other cultures and ways of seeing the world. It allows you to experience French-speaking countries and communities from a unique perspective, rather than simply observing them from the outside.
I want my students to discover that learning French is fun and interactive. I use a variety of mediums in my lessons including songs, video clips, advertisements, radio and games, as well as magazine articles and newspapers. Resources selected are age appropriate and bespoke to your needs and goals. Curiosity is encouraged, and I hope to inspire you to want to find out more about the French language and French-speaking world, and to have fun doing so. As with any new skill, language learning can be challenging at times - requiring lots of practice and, inevitably, errors along the way! My tuition lessons provide a ‘safe space’ for taking risks in your language learning, and I aim to encourage, guide and inspire you to achieve not only the grades you desire, but also a curiosity about the wider Francophone world.
